It’s only a matter of weeks before those merino wool coats and sherpas come out of the closet for the long haul, but in the meantime, the forecast promises sun and temperatures in the sixties. What we’re trying to say is don’t resign yourself to red wine and cozy nights around the fireplace just yet because there’s still plenty of sauerkraut and Hoegaarden-induced debauchery to be had outside—and out of your comfort zone, like, not at the Standard Biergarten.
We’ve rounded up the five best beer gardens in and around NYC to help you enjoy the final days of fall with a few (make that a pitcher of) good brews in your belly.
1. Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden
What’s the Pint: This true biergarten’s got more than enough space for schmoozing or Schuhplattler-ing. Consider ordering Staropramen, Hoegaarden, or Krusovice Dark, which all pair nicely with a grilled kielbasa.
Where to Chug: Take the N or W train to Astoria Boulevard. (Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden, 29-19 24th Ave., Astoria, bohemianhall.com)
How Much: $15 for a (four pint) pitcher, $5 for a pint

2. Radegast Hall & Beer Garden
What’s the Pint: European music, dancing on tables, and angus burgers are sure to please once you’ve had a mug of Weihenstephaner Dunkel Weisse or Erdinger.
Where to Chug: Take the L to Bedford. (113 N 3rd St, Brooklyn, 718.963.3973, radegasthall.com)
How Much: $7 for a giant mug
3. Berry Park
What’s the Pint: Over summer, the outer boroughs gained yet another rooftop venue, where German and Belgian beers dominate the 15 imports on tap. Take a seat under a blue Hofbräu umbrella, try a Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA, and choose between the views of Manhattan or a football (soccer) match of AC Milan vs. Real Madrid projected on a big screen.
Where to Chug: Take the G to Nassau Avenue. (4 Berry St at N. 14th St, Williamsburg, 718.782.2829, berryparkbk.com)
How Much: $5-$8 for a pint
4. Zeppelin Hall Restaurant & Biergarten
What’s the Pint: Here in Jersey, you’ve got your Blue Moon, Smuttynose IPA, a Bards gluten free, plus every kind of European draught you’d want at a biergarten with over 36 varieties on tap. Also new this summer, Zepp’s harbors that authentic communal experience you want to relive after visiting the century old, lederhosen-filled places in Vienna.
Where to Chug: Take the the PATH train to Grove Street, then walk four blocks. (88 Liberty View Drive, Jersey City, 201.721.8888, zeppelinhall.com)
How Much: $5 for a pint
5. Studio Square
What’s the Pint: A modern chic twist on a classic biergarten, this Long Island City newbie had chutzpah trying to compete with Queens favorite Bohemian Hall. But the birch trees, perfectly crisp, salty fries, 17 beers on tap, and chill urban setting make this 18,000 square foot space well worth leaving Manhattan for on a Saturday afternoon.
Where to Chug: Take the N or W to 36th Ave. (35-33 36th St, Astoria, 718.383.1001, studiosquarenyc.com)
How Much: $7 for a pint, $18 for a pitcher
*Please note: Each place has a toasty and festive indoor hall, for those who chill easily even after a pint of beer. Prost!
